A spin-off Pokemon tale I came up with, with a little darker and more realistic taste to it.
The title is still a work in progress.
I'm always open to questions, comments and/or suggestions, whether content-wise or whatever it may be!
Hope you enjoy!
It was day three of the tournament and the sun shone brightly over the mountains. The cries or Dodrios outside woke up Nikki, who for the third day in a row slept in longer than Tyson. Again, he was at the computer, looking at the layout for the second round.
Friday and Saturday were the most relaxing days Tyson had ever spent. He and Nikki got to relax in the hotel room, eat delicious food and enjoy themselves in the rides of the carnival. He had never in his life been able to simply do nothing all day. When he was younger, there was always work to be done at the cabin, and after he had become a trainer, he was always on the move to the next gym match. Through most of Sunday Tyson studied the pamphlets given to him on the handout with schedules, maps and other rules in their room while Nikki studied possible rivals in the trainer roster.

The large sign arched over the entrance gates resting upon a road made of bricks, which leaded into a tall building, erected against the wall of solid rock that became Mt Silver. Tyson and Nikki were now officially on Kanto soil, though to go any further into the region they would have to clear with the security services. Just ahead of the league, building stood a second, smaller building. Inside there was one spacious room with three labeled exits, one straight ahead, one to the left and one to the right.
Tyson woke up. His whole body felt numb, yet sore at the same time. He rubbed his eyes while he sat up, not knowing what had happened. The air felt hot and dry. Very hot, in fact. Moreover, it smelled repugnant like smoke and brimstone. His vision was blurred, and he did not seem to recognize his surroundings. He tried to stand up and his head went light, and his vision dark. Falling back to his knees, eyes shut tight, he tried to speak but only a cough came out. He tried again.

Training does wonders
Tyson barely had time to realize that he had just been pushed off a cliff and was now rapidly falling towards a set of rocks at the bottom. He thought about screaming, but it just did not seem like the proper way to go for him. At that moment, he felt a set of sharp claws grip at his back as powerful arms wrapped around him, squeezing the air out of his lungs. Casey let out a single cry with its eyes shut tight as she began to glow.
Traveling lightly meant Tyson covered a lot more ground than per usual, though if he had been with Frisco he could have probably been at the Indigo Plateau by now. Casey walked alongside him, dutifully keeping up with her trainer with no problem. He had hoped to find his destination, the Madam’s daughter’s house, before nightfall, but that did not seem like it would happen. He had no idea of how far into Route 26 this house was, or how much of the route he had already covered. With all his belonging having been left back at the Madam’s house, Tyson’s survival skills were truly put to the test, as well as his bond with Casey.
Tyson let out a grunt and crossed his arms in frustration. Toto lowered its snout into the water, blowing bubbles out of its nose as they floated in the calm water from a safe distance from the massive swirl of water that blocked the water path beyond them. Nikki rode on the back of Dragonite beside Tyson in order to not get wet.
